Dudley Museum at the Archives

Follow Dudley’s story from pre-history to the present day in our newly designed premises and refreshed displays. As well as the geology displays our collections include Dudley Castle finds, a small collection of Duncan Edwards memorabilia, Dinosaurs and Dudley Sporting Heroes. 

Current artwork on display includes Dudley landscapes and in focus display of Henry Pope. We have a whole host of activities and crafts for adults and children of all abilities to enjoy. From Crafts to Book Clubs, Creative Glass workshops to Family Days there is something for everyone! Activities at our Museums include: Adult Crafts - Aimed at people who enjoy chatting and making, no previous skills required. Come along, have a go and have a cuppa. Come and try it; we promise you’ll want to come back. Pre-booking required. Book Club - Due to the popularity of our reading group at Dudley Museum, we are now offering visitors to the Cone a chance to read a book and discuss over a cuppa. Books are available to borrow free of charge. Creative Crafting - Are you aged 8 years or over? Fancy learning a new craft? Come along with your family and be creative together. Creative Glass - Experience the pleasure of creating a unique piece of fused glass. A different theme each month. Diddy Dinos (pre-school) - Story, sensory play and fun in our popular under 4’s stay and play session. Suitable for ages 12 months – 4 years. The session is designed for babies, toddlers and their carers to interact and play. Easter Hunt - A safe, fun family event. Decorate a goody bag and hunt around the Cone for Easter related treats. Family Days - Enjoy the museum, have a go at our themed trail, try crafts and other activities all in one family friendly venue. Drop in anytime between 10.30am and 2.30pm and allow at least an hour. Fossil Finds - Have you discovered a fossil or a rock? Do you want to know more about your discovery? Pop into our new Fossil ID sessions. Glass fusion (ages 5+) - Working in our glass fusing studio, make lovely glass treasures. Sessions last about 30 minutes and need to be booked in advance. Reading on the Rocks - A chance to read a book and then share your opinion with new friends over a cuppa. Books are available to borrow from Dudley Library Service. Sticky Saturday - Kids can have a go at being messy and sticky…and we do the tidying up! Quick, simple crafts to make and take home with you. Drop in at any time but allow 30 minutes. Treasures of the Museum - Find out more about the history and origins of Dudley Museums and our collections. A short talk highlighting some of our chosen treasures. A different treasure each month. Unearthed - A relaxed talk with opportunities to interact. Discover the amazing world of geology. Youth Arts and Craft Market - A great way to showcase the talents of local young people. Be surprised by the skills on display and quality of work. Support your local, young entrepreneurs.
